Since its establishment in 1973, the Korean Traditional Music Institute of America’s educational philosophy has focused on developing a deep understanding of traditional Korean music and culture and conveying its values to American society.  This institute is dedicated to preserving Korea’s long-standing musical traditions while adapting them to modern society, thus creating innovative art forms.

The curriculum at the Institute teaches a variety of Korean musical instruments, allowing students to master the playing techniques of traditional instruments such as the gayageum, haegeum, piri, daegeum, and janggu. In addition to instrumental training, the institute offers theory and practical classes in traditional music genres like pansori and folk songs.

The Korean Traditional Music Institute of America endeavors to encapsulate the essence of traditional music while expanding its reach to a global audience through modern interpretation and creative approaches. It actively fosters the fusion of traditional and contemporary music, exploring new musical styles through the exchange of diverse cultures.
